About the NSW Rural Doctors Network:

The NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) is a not-for-profit and non-government organisation, and is designated by the Australian Government as the Rural Workforce Agency (RWA) (for health) in New South Wales (NSW). RDN aims to ensure that the highest possible standard of healthcare is provided to rural and remote communities through the provision of a highly skilled and continuing medical and health workforce in remote and rural NSW.

The Role:

The NSW Rural Doctors Network (NSWRDN) is currently seeking a highly experienced Project Officer who will be responsible to support our Outreach ear and eye health programs. These programs aim to improve service coordination and access for rural and Aboriginal communities across NSW and the ACT.

Key responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Experience in project/program management (within healthcare sector would be advantageous, but experience from other sectors also considered)
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in an appropriate field (public health, Aboriginal health, eye health or project management)
  • An understanding of the specific social, cultural and health-related issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or a willingness to learn and a commitment to improving access to health services for Aboriginal people
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, including excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which may include analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Knowledge and experience using Office products and other team communication and coordination tools
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills coupled with the ability to work independently under general direction
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to focus and maintain attention to detail while dealing with multiple demands and deadlines
  • Current driver’s license and the ability to travel regularly throughout NSW

 It would also be desirable to have:

  • Experience utilising qualitative and quantitative data to identify gaps and plan health services
  • Experience working in an eye health and/or Aboriginal health context
  • Experience with change management
